Monday 7th May 2012 : Provisional Results

21:00

All books and routecards now in and keyed - you can see the current state of play on the SSDT Live Results page!  It's not done yet though - we do about an hours worth of double-checks before going to publication, just in case we've missed anything, so it'll be around 10pm-ish by the time the section-by-section results are published.

19:30

Apologies foiks - it's all happening in here, no time for updates!  Word on the street is that there are at least four riders back in the Parc Ferme who think they're clean for the day - we've been kind to them today methinks....will have to make up for that tomorrow!

17:30

Books for Carn Dearg and Blackwater just come in - along with all the routecards for the riders already back in the Parc Ferme, so a busy couple of hours are looming ahead!

Going to have to mop down the routecards too....the sun didn't last long, it's a bit cold and miserable out there now!

16:30

That's the Bradilieg books in and keyed - should be showing on the live results any minute now....

15:30

You can now check out the daily scores as they're keyed on the SSDT Live Results page!

The buttons across the bottom still link to 2011 results - that'll change over the course of the evening!  First route cards are also in the office, so we're off to key them and see what time is looking like today.

For those of you in the Fort who know that there are horrendous roadworks at the Lochybridge junction, the way we've got round that today is by running delay from the Parc Ferme this morning to just north of the new roundabout.  That means that the time that is taken by riders to get through the roadworks won't count towards their total running time for the day.

14:00

That's the first batch of books in folks - the SSDT Results System has been pulled out of retirement, the dust has been blown off the keyboards and the Leanachan books are currently being entered!

The Live Resuilts system will be activated as soon as these books are completed and confirmed, but don't worry - I'll let you know once that's been done!

09:00

Well folks - that's it!  We're off and running!

Despite all the miserable weather forecasts that we've been hearing about, it's another utterly glorious day here in Fort William....if you're not here, you are missing out on soooooo much!  This page will be updated throughout the day to give you all the latest news on what's happening, where the action is and all the latest gossip from the Parc Ferme!

The Parc Ferme was buzzing at 07:15 this morning, with everyone there to see #1 rider Jamie Reid from Penicuik take his place as the latest Scottish rider to lead off the SSDT in traditional style.  After a nervous few seconds waiting for the bike to start, he rode off to a massive cheer from the crowd, and that was it - the 2012 Scottish was officially underway!

Following the trial...

ThereMonday's Route are a number of ways that you can follow our progress throughout the day.  If you're lucky enough to be in the area, then you can find full details of the route by clicking on the picture of the map to the right.  That will tell you the route that's being followed, the sections that are being run today, and the best spots to go and watch.

If you'd like additional details on how to get to some of the key sections, then you'll find them on our Spectator tab at the top, under the Find A Section heading.  Simply click the + sign beside the group you're interested in, then click the box in the middle of the four arrows on the map that appears to flag up the location of the groups.  From there you can zoom in and navigate around the map as much as you want to get your bearings - you can't go wrong!

UPY1SmallIf you are more interested in where our riders are on the route, then you can find that out too!  Once again we're delighted to introduce the UPY Spot Track system.  There are eight GPS tracking units out on the route each day - one showing the frontrunner (the officials riding out in front of the trial), six showing the progress of riders throughout the day (spread across the entry field) and the final one with our backmarkers showing the very end of the trial.

This system is only made possible through the support of UPY, manufacters of The UPY Liftbike, so we're extremely grateful to them....go and have a look at their website!

Keeping up with the latest news...

We'll update this blog every so often throughout the day, with the newest additions at the top of the article.  Smaller pieces of news will be on our Facebook and Twitter feeds - we'll update from here in the office, but you'll also get snippets as and when time allows from Jake Miller of G2F Media when he's out and about at the sections.  He's our eyes and ears on the ground and will know much more of what is going on than we do!

Why not check out our webcams too!  They're not at the sections I'm afraid, but you can see what's going on at the Parc Ferme and in the SSDT Hub by checking out the SSDT Webcams in the Gallery menu.  Don't pay too much attention to the one at the top right now....it's not still dark in the Fort, I promise!  Fergus The IT Guru will reset that just as soon as he finds ladders high enough to reach it.  :0)

And finally...

Monday is brought to you courtesy of our daily sponsor, John Lee Motorcyles.
