Thursday 10th May 2012 : Provisional Results

 22:30

Sorry for the hold-up folks - late books plus lots of marks dropped equals lots of extra checks to do before publication!  You can see the situation as it stands on our Live Results system in the meantime and full details will follow some time around 11pm or 11.15pm.

First of the Fersit books in now, some cracking rides out there today by all accounts....should make all the difference to the trial!

20:00

That's the Dunan books in and being keyed now - after that it's just Corrour Lodge and Fersit to get back to the hotel and we'll get them keyed asap.  Assuming they're in within the next half hour, we'd be looking at around 10pm - 10.30pm for published results, by my reckoning.

As it stands, the top three are Lampkin (2), Dabill (5), then Sagar and Brown (7).  Pascuet is up to 11, with a 5 and 3 added to three individual dabs over the course of the day so far.  As it stands, Lampkin and Sagar have had the best performance today with only one mark dropped, but Connor, Danby and Dabill are close behind with only two so far.

These results will all be double-checked before publication and may yet change, but for now, that's the situation with around ten sections to go.

Gorton books in and keyed, and Pascuet has indeed dropped six marks.  Costly mistakes as he's now down to third on the leaderboard, five points behind the new leader Dougie Lampkin.  Last year's winner James Dabill is right between the two, with regulars Tom Sagar and Michael Brown right behind on seven marks lost.

Well that's the first books of the day in!  Chairlift is in and keyed, and Ba House is in progress.....rumour has it that Pascuet has dropped a 1 and a 5 out of Gorton, so it could be all change today!

08:30

Good morning folks! Hard to believe that it's Thursday already, but it is, and from here the week just flies in!

Thursday is traditionally a long day, and this year is no different.  Read on to find out more about the route and how you can follow the trial.  We'll do what we can from here in the office to make it as easy as possible for you by updating this article on a regular basis throughout the day with any bits and pieces that we hear.

Today's route is sponsored by two of our local businesses - Thistle Access NDT Ltd and Highland Leisure Sport.

Well, word from the dog-walkers in the office here is that whilst it may not look like it's particularly cold out there, it is FREEZING as soon as you step out the door, so maybe the forecast snow isn't as laughable as we thought!

The first man away today was number 139, Kevin Chapman from Richmond, North Yorkshire.  He's riding round with his pal Paul Smith (140) who has come all the way from Kuala Lumpur to ride The Scottish, so give them a cheer if you see them heading up the riders today.

Thursday's route never changes much, and this year is no exception.  It starts with the long road run out to Chairlift, over to Ba House, then the long haul across Rannoch to Lochs Wood, taking in Gorgon, Creagan a Bhuie and Coire Nam Miseach on the way.  From there it's back towards Fort William via Corrour before finishing with the seven favourite sections at Fersit.  Click the map at the foot of this article to find out more about the sections, the best places to watch and where you'll find them!

If you'd like to check on the progress of the trial throughout the day, we have GPS trackers being carried by our fore-runners (who run in front of the trial to make sure that all is well), six riders spaced throughout the day and our backmarkers (who run behind the trial picking up flags, markers and riders, where necessary!).  Just click the big Spot logo at the foot of the page to see that....thanks to the makers of The UPY Liftbike for sponsoring this service and making it possible!

You can also get into the spirit of things by keeping an eye on the Parc Ferme and The SSDT Hub through our webcams - again, the link is below!
