Friday 11th May 2012 : Provisional Results

20:00

Apologies folks - all the books and routecards came flooding in at once, so we've been heads down to get them all keyed in time for you!  Final checks now underway - results should be before 10pm tonight!

16:45

That's the WD's books in and being keyed....

....remember that as well as the photos below, we've got video footage from every day of the trial online for you too!  Just in case you need something else to help you procrastinate whilst you wait for the results to appear!

 16:15

Glenuig book in and being keyed as we speak.  Only one sub there though, so not likely to be any dramatic changes in that one!  Remember you can check out progress on our Live Results page.

Follow us on Facebook too for additional snippets here and there too!

Books from Pipers Burn now in and keyed - we're trying a new system of double-checking the books as and when we get breaks in the afternoon in the hope that it reduces the time it takes to double-check scores tonight.  We've decided we fancy at least one night this week where we escape the office before the bar shuts!  We'll keep you posted on progress!

In the meantime, here's some pictures for you from this morning, courtesy of Jake Miller at G2F Media, along with those from earlier in the week that we hadn't managed to get time to edit and upload until now....!

Bad news for Ross Danby - he's had to quit after the second group of sections today.  Real shame when both he and the JotaGas were going so well.

15:00

Books for Doire Damh and The Muidhe in and in the process of being keyed!  Remember, you can watch the scores on the doors as they're keyed using the Live Results link below!

The latest rumour on the go is that Doug has just dropped two at Pipers Burn this morning....

First of all, lets introduce you to today's sponsor, RCM TrialSport!

RCM

Good morning folks! Here's where you'll find all the hot gossip for Day Five of The Scottish!  Friday is always very much based close to the roadside and so is very popular amongst spectators and riders alike.  If you fancy a day around the peninsula, you couldn't pick a better day to do it!  Find out more about the route, the riders and keeping up with the trial below.

It's looking a bit brighter out there today - yesterday was described as being arctic by a whole host of different people....it really was cold out there!  Today doesn't seem to be as bad, although there is snow lower down on the Ben - it's not as windy as it was yesterday, so hopefully that'll take the sharpness out of it for everyone.

First man away today is rider 185, George Pollard from Devon.  He'll be leading the field around the Moidart Peninsula, leaving Fort William, through Corpach and out on the Malliaig road.  Most of the sections today are roadside, so there is plenty to see if you want to spectate today - however, it's advisable to make sure you follow the direction of the trial as most of the roads are single-track....you don't want to be fighting against everyone else coming round in the other direction!

Click the map image at the foot of this article for full details of today's route and the sections involved.  If you want to find out exactly where some of the most popular sections are, remember you can use our Find A Section service!  Simply click the + sign beside the group you're interested in, then click the box in the middle of the four arrows on the map that appears to flag up the location of the groups.  From there you can zoom in and navigate around the map as much as you want.

If you'd like to check on the progress of the trial throughout the day, we have GPS trackers being carried by our fore-runners (who run in front of the trial to make sure that all is well), six riders spaced throughout the day and our backmarkers (who run behind the trial picking up flags, markers and riders, where necessary!).  Just click the big Spot logo at the foot of the page to see that....thanks to the makers of The UPY Liftbike for sponsoring this service and making it possible!

You can also get into the spirit of things by keeping an eye on the Parc Ferme and The SSDT Hub through our webcams - again, the link is below!

Tonight the SSDT Hub swings back into action with a not-to-be-missed talk from Steve Saunders.  Held in the fully-licensed marquee in the West End Car Park, there will be live music before and after the talk, which is guaranteed to be interesting particularly considering JotaGas's impressive introduction to the SSDT so far!  It starts at 8pm and is well worth a visit.
