Saturday 12th May 2012 : Provisional Results

19:00

Books all in and keyed - final checks being carried out now.  Full results will be published after tonight's awards presentation, in the Nevis Centre.

 16:30

Books will be late today - delay on the route between traffic lights on the main road and a build up at Achintee, so we're likely to be done around an hour later than usual.  Follow the action on the Live Results page - apologies for the lack of updates here, but with being so tight for time we need all hands on deck to get the information keyed!

13:45

That's the Callert Falls books keyed - you can see the updates so far on the Live Results page by clicking the icon below.....no big changes at the top so far!

Follow us on Facebook too for additional snippets here and there too!

Callert Falls books just in the door!

12:00

Good morning afternoon everyone!  Apologies for the delay - Saturday morning is always a busy one in the office as everyone comes in to sort out expenses and say their farewells.....plus by Day Six I'm even more disorganised than when I started!  :0)

Here's where you'll find your updates for Day 6 of The Scottish....and what a day it is going to be, with three battling for the lead and a baying pack on their heels...

First of all, lets introduce you to today's sponsor, Oximoto:

Oximoto

Rider 231 led the field away today - Gary Pears from Richmond MC set off at 7.30am on his last run of the week, and did so in glorious sunshine.  If it stays like this we'll have a cracking end to the trial - it's blue skies, sunshine, and it's almost mild!

The route goes down towards the West Highland Way, then into Kinlochleven before going out towards Loch Chiarain, down the back of Leanachan forest and then a loop round Glen Nevis before finishing in traditional style in the town centre.  The key spectator points are going to be at Pipeline and Lower Mamore in the morning, then on to Ben Nevis and Nevis Forest in the afternoon.....the Ben is so often where the trial is won or lost, so it's a great spot to be in on a day like today where everything is sooooo close.

Click the map image at the foot of this article for full details of today's route and the sections involved.  If you want to find out exactly where some of the most popular sections are, remember you can use our Find A Section service!  Simply click the + sign beside the group you're interested in, then click the box in the middle of the four arrows on the map that appears to flag up the location of the groups.  From there you can zoom in and navigate around the map as much as you want.

If you'd like to check on the progress of the trial throughout the day, we have GPS trackers being carried by our fore-runners (who run in front of the trial to make sure that all is well), six riders spaced throughout the day and our backmarkers (who run behind the trial picking up flags, markers and riders, where necessary!).  Just click the big Spot logo at the foot of the page to see that....thanks to the makers of The UPY Liftbike for sponsoring this service and making it possible!

Unfortunately we don't have the webcam service today - the work starts to dismantle much of the West End Car Park this afternoon, and so the webcams have been removed already before they get caught up in the destruction.  Now that all the bikes are out there isn't really much left to see anyway, so hopefully you won't mind!

Tonight the SSDT finishes with the Presentation Of Awards at 9pm in the Nevis Centre at An Aird.  Every finisher will get their moment on the stage and pick up their hard-earned award, so come along and give them a cheer....after what they've been through, they deserve it!
