Lochaber Community Fund
Each May the Lochaber community welcomes both the Scottish Six Days Trial and the Pre-65 Trial into their hearts. Without such enthusiastic local support there is no doubt that both events would not enjoy the success that they do.
At the heart of every community there are clubs, groups and causes who make a difference to the lives of the people who live there. The Edinburgh & District Motor Club Community Fund was set up to provide a little extra assistance to these good causes as a thank you to the people of Lochaber.
The Edinburgh & District Motor Club invites people throughout Lochaber to nominate a group, club or cause in their local community for consideration.
All groups or causes operating at a local level are considered. Our aim is to ensure that as many communities benefit as possible, recognising that even small contributions matter to these organisations and especially in these times of economic uncertainty.
Both the SSDT and Pre-65 events have supported various charities and organisations over the past decade, but following on from our SSDT centenary event the Club thought it worthwhile to set up a formal community fund which is supported through merchandise sales and donations. The list of beneficiaries already includes: The Leanne Fund, Travis Perkins Breast Cancer Campaign, Lochaber Squadron Air Training Corps, Young Seniors Club Fort William, Young Artist of the Year Fort William, Kinlochleven Community Trust, The Strontian Primary School Cycling Proficiency Fund, Arkaig Community Forest, Island Park Community Field, Lochaber Gaelic Choir, Feis na h-Apainne Musical Group and Action for Seniors Kinlochleven.
Applications are reviewed annually at the June Board meeting of the Edinburgh & District Motor Club so all applications for any given year should be made by the end of May in that year.
